Things to do on Cape Cod
Cape Cod is the arm-shaped peninsula about 60 miles (95 km) southeast of Boston, reached by car via Route 3 and one of two bridges over the Cape Cod Canal, the Sagamore or the Bourne; expect delays crossing on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons in summer. Hyannis is the main town and the ferry gateway to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
The Cape Cod National Seashore protects miles of Atlantic beach on the outer arm, and villages further out, including Chatham and Provincetown, draw day-trippers from the bay-side towns. A car is close to essential once you arrive, since local transit between villages is limited.
Tourist life here runs May to October; many restaurants and shops close for winter.
