Things to do in Kennebunkport & southern Maine

Kennebunkport is a coastal village in southern Maine, a little over an hour's drive from Boston via I-95 and the coast road; there is no practical rail option, since the Amtrak Downeaster stops in Wells, several miles away, with limited local connections, so a car is the realistic way in.

The draw is Dock Square's shops and restaurants, the working lobster harbor, and beaches including Kennebunk Beach and Goose Rocks Beach. The Bush family's summer home at Walker's Point is visible from the coastal road but is private property, not a site to visit.

The village runs on a summer season, roughly June to September, when beaches and shops are busiest; outside those months many restaurants and shops close and the town is far quieter.
