Things to do in the North End

Boston's oldest residential neighbourhood is also its Italian one: narrow lanes packed with bakeries and restaurants, especially around Hanover and Salem Streets.

The Freedom Trail's red line runs through it to the Old North Church, where lanterns signalled Paul Revere in April 1775, and on to the Paul Revere House nearby.

It's a five- to ten-minute walk from downtown or Faneuil Hall, with Haymarket (Orange/Green Line) and North Station (Orange/Green Line plus Commuter Rail) the closest T stops. Evenings get busy, with queues likely at well-known addresses, and an open-air market sets up at Haymarket on some days.
